The Meow Meows are described by Kerrang! as a ’20-legged strong groove machine’ which is darn true although I do believe the Kerrang! journo might have been drinking as there are only nine band members.

Yet it can be hard to establish just how many there are when they are crammed on a tiny stage at places like the Hope with the female frontline duo blasting the room with harmonic jubilant lyrics complemented by the horns, guitars and keyboards all expertly played. On first appearance they come across as a bunch of friends having fun but don’t let this fool you into thinking they’re not a hardworking gang.
