With only two weeks to go until #TGE16 kicks off, the sun is shining and excitement levels are hitting an all-time high as the city of Brighton is gearing up for what promises to be an incredible weekend of live music and emerging talent. Today, the festival for new music announces the full line-up for ‘The Great Escape Street Party’, giving non ticket holders the chance to join forces with festival goers to make the streets of Brighton come alive with the best new music, with artists including MIAMIGO, Tom Prior and Just Waves performing across two new stages.
For the past ten years the Brighton community has welcomed thousands of up and coming artists to its’ music venues, and as a thank you and to kick start the next ten years ‘The Great Escape Street Party’ invites everyone from delegates to wristband holders to members of the public to revel in new music, marvel at street performers and sample some of the City’s finest food and drink.
The Brighton International Label Market will be relocating to the Street Party, featuring some of the industry’s hottest labels including; Clubhouse, Erased Tapes, Mr Bongo, Freshly Sqeezed, Tru Thoughts, Shogun Audio, Post Pop Records and At The Helm/ Hidden Trail.
To accommodate the Street Party, Jubilee Street will be pedestrianised from Thursday – Saturday and New Road will be pedestrian-only on Thursday and Friday.
The Pop-Up Stage will see an eclectic and diverse range of artists over Thursday and Friday, including Brighton’s sixty-piece indie choir The Jam Tarts, the New York Brass Brand, who will be bringing the sound of the Deep South to Brighton, London duo Xylaroo whose vibrant harmonies and soulful lyrics will capture audiences and gypsy folk and punk superstars Barbarella’s Bang Bang. Swing Patrol will be showing off their dance moves and giving free taster sessions too.
Amongst the line-up on the New Road Stage supported by Citadel Festival is alternative folk musician and local girl Ellie Ford. Joining her will be the euphoric sounds of Voodoo Love Orchestra, brit rock band The Dunwells and Sussex local Sam Wills.
